Less haste, more taste
Ludlow Food Fair showcases the best of local produce – at a civilised pace!
Think of Ludlow and you think of food.
For several years now this attractive Shropshire town has been vigorously promoting itself as the gourmet capital of the country, and the annual food festival celebrates this fact with considerable panache.
Around 140 small independent producers of food and drink drawn from the Welsh Marches border country will set up their stalls in the streets and castle grounds during the weekend of 10 – 11 September. Thousands of visitors from all over the UK are drawn to the event, which this year offers even more attractions, including Michelin Friday, a whole day of demonstrations from some of the country’s top chefs.
Other highlights include the famous street Trails, where visitors can sample local examples of sausages, ale and bread. There will be tastings of puddings and other treats, too, and the grand final of the British Street Food Awards will be decided here this weekend.
As well as demonstrations, tastings, competitions and talks, the festival provides entertainment, music, guided walks and children’s events, and the whole town buzzes with a friendly, festive atmosphere you can almost taste! But the emphasis, as always, is upon good food and drink, locally sourced, carefully created and sold with pride by enthusiasts who really care about their product.
